Description

These Crispy Air Fryer Maple Garlic Chicken Drumettes are a delicious and easy weeknight meal or appetizer. Perfectly golden-brown and juicy, they’re coated in a sticky, sweet, and savory maple garlic glaze. This recipe is quick to prepare, requires minimal cleanup, and delivers maximum flavor, making it ideal for busy schedules.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped, for garnish (optional)

  • Instructions

    1. Pat the chicken drumettes very dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the drumettes with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until they are evenly coated.

    2. Preheat your air fryer to 375 F (190 C) for about 5 minutes.

    3. Place the seasoned drumettes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd it. Cook in batches if necessary.

    4. Air fry the drumettes for 15 minutes, flipping them halfway through to ensure even browning and crispiness on all sides.

    5. While the chicken is air frying, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, minced garlic, and apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan. In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry.

    6. Heat the maple garlic mixture over medium heat, bringing it to a gentle simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens to a glossy, pourable glaze, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat.

    7. Once the chicken has cooked for 15 minutes, increase the air fryer temperature to 400 F (200 C). Air fry for another 5-10 minutes, or until the chicken is deeply golden brown, crispy, and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165 F or 74 C).

    8. Transfer the hot, crispy drumettes to a large bowl. Pour the warm maple garlic glaze over the chicken and toss gently until every piece is thoroughly coated. Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions if desired, and serve immediately.
